Info: Ericka Ellis-Stewart advocates for public education, the environment, and mental

health. Mrs. Ellis-Stewart is the Deputy Director for Mental Health America of Central

Carolinas.  In this role, Ericka serves as a senior leader within the organization,

overseeing the agencies day-to-day operations and leading efforts to

promote mental health awareness and influence public policy.  Mrs. Ellis-Stewart has

over 25 years of experience in the non-profit arena, including seven previous years of

service at MHA.  Earlier in her career, Mrs. Ellis-Stewart was the executive director of

several Charlotte-based non-profit agencies, including Right Moves For Youth, the

Johnston YMCA, and the Charlotte CROP Hunger Walk.


Ericka is a formerly elected official. She served eight years as an at-large representative

on the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education. Mrs. Ellis-Stewart was a Council of

Urban Boards of Education (CUBE) national steering committee member for six years.
