In partnership with the Youth Initiative of Race Matters for Juvenile Justice (RMJJ), our Youth Explosion Summit is a collection of programming that inspires students before the new school year. Participants will connect with community leaders and potential mentors, envision a thriving community together, and create artwork that celebrates their authentic selves.
The 4th Annual Youth Explosion: Knowledge is Power centers on the vital role of education in shaping empowered, thoughtful communities. Building on the success of last year’s event, this year’s theme highlights the importance of access to education amid growing political debates and funding challenges. The conference features a youth-led panel exploring how education influences civic engagement and personal growth. Participants will also take part in hands-on art workshops and enjoy performances that creatively express their views on knowledge, justice, and community. Through dialogue and art, young voices will lead the charge in reimagining education as a tool for positive change.
A highlight this year is the networking event that brings together youth and community leaders from various fields—education, business, arts, activism, and more —to foster meaningful connections. This opportunity allows young participants to engage directly with professionals who can inspire and potentially shape their educational and career paths. Through discussion, creativity, and mentorship, the Youth Explosion continues to uplift young people as they imagine and build a more just and informed future.
Although it is for the entire family to enjoy, this summit is designed for middle and high-school-aged youth to shine by way of both artistic and activist expression, and for this reason, they are especially encouraged to take part.
The summit includes a small lunch and refreshments. All minors must be accompanied by an adult at all times while guests of the Gantt.
