4-H & FFA Market Sale
Friday, August 22nd 6:30 p.m.
Wahkiakum County Fairgrounds, Skamokawa, WA
Please be sure to sign up as a bidder prior to the auction. After you have made a successful purchase, please be sure to have your picture taken with the youth and your market item after the sale is over. CASH or CHECK ONLY and please make checks payable to Wahkiakum 4-H.
HOW TO BUY: Animals are sold by the pen or head. If you wish to bid on an animal, raise your hand and either the auctioneer or one of the auction committee members will take your bid. If you need assistance, an auction committee member will assist you. The bidding continues until a high bid is reached with the animal or item going to that bidder. Whether you buy or not, your bidding helps the sale of the 4-H or FFA Market Sale animals and still life items. You can also give an "add-on" to a particular youth to support them without making a purchase. This can be done by contacting the Wahkiakum 4-H office prior to the sale or on the sale day.
WHEN YOU BUY STILL LIFE ITEMS:
A variety of items will be available, such as jams, plants, art, crafts, or sewing. Items are sold as is, without the ribbon. Still Life Items cannot be removed from the fair grounds until Saturday at 9:15pm. They can be picked up on Saturday at 9:15pm or Sunday 10am-2pm or the 4-H Office in Cathlamet, 360-795-3278. Please make arrangements after the sale with the sale table.
WHEN YOU BUY AN ANIMAL:
There are three choices for you to make:
Have the animal consigned for processing and then to a frozen locker plant for cutting, wrapping and freezing.
You may pick the animal up live on Saturday night at 9 p.m. and take it home, or give it away, etc.
Or you may donate the animal to be sold again at the auction with the proceeds going to help support the 4-H & FFA Auction Program.
RABBIT, GEESE, DUCKS & CHICKEN FRYERS: If you bid $50 per pen, your animals will cost $50, and these animals are sold live only, by the pen. We can help you make arrangements for the butcher; please let us know if you need arrangements at the time of purchase.
