Join us for our Balboa and Collegiate Shag workshop taught by Amanda Gerken and Connor Cole! Four hours of fast dancing fun!
Schedule:
1-3 Balboa classes
3-3:30 Break
3:30-5:30 Collegiate Shag classes
5:30-6 Practice time
Our regularly scheduled beginner 6-count drop in lesson will NOT be taking place this evening. Instead, we are going to treat this evening as our fast dance day. So come back at 8pm for a social dance!! Doors will be OPEN at 7:30. We'll be playing uptempo music all night for your fast dancing delight! Come practice what you learned at the workshop, swing out, throw down, etc.
Admission is $50 for all four classes, or $15 for individuals. Students pay $40 for all four.
Balboa Class Description: Been curious about Balboa? Know a bit, but wanna know more? Come learn the FUNdations of Balboa with Connor & Amanda! This niche swing dance that developed out of southern California in the1930s is now danced all over the world. In the workshop, we will cover the basic rhythms, classic moves, and comfy connection tso you'll be ready to social dance Balboa all night long.
Collegiate Shag Class Description: Come learn the historical Collegiate Shag dance, a swing dance that was popular all across the country in the 30s. This dance is full of fun footwork patterns, energetic movement, and a bit of whimsy.
