Cettina Donato and Cristina Vaira, two internationally acclaimed Italian artists, will present their latest musical work at the Dante Alighieri Society of Massachusetts.
Cettina Donato is a Sicilian classical and jazz pianist, composer, arranger, and conductor, and the first Italian woman to lead symphony orchestras performing jazz and pop arrangements entirely crafted by herself. She will present her new album, To Love or Not To Love?, dedicated to the Roman writer Alberto Moravia. The album features some of the finest performers on the Italian jazz scene, including singer Michela Lombardi, who wrote the project’s lyrics, and trumpeter Fabrizio Bosso.
Donato conducts several orchestras in Italy and around the world, including the Late Night Jazz Orchestra in Los Angeles. She has appeared on national and international radio and television programs, as well as in major newspapers and magazines, and is recognized as one of the leading jazz pianists and composers of her generation. She is also a professor at multiple music conservatories in Italy and has toured extensively in the United States, Japan, Canada, and across Europe. Learn more at: https://www.cettinadonato.com/
Cristina Vaira is a Boston-based singer-songwriter originally from Milan and a Songwriting Professor at Berklee College of Music. She will present new songs from her upcoming album, I Wanna See You Fly—a journey of resilience, courage, and faith inspired by personal struggles, pain, and the process of finding a new voice and rebuilding a life after losing everything.
She has appeared on national radio, television, and in major press outlets in Italy, and was featured by UN Women at their Global Voices Film Festival in 2021. Cristina was selected for the semi-final auditions of X-Factor Italy while still a student at Berklee and has won several music competitions in her country, both as a singer and songwriter. She also worked at the major record label EMI Music Italy, where she had the opportunity to promote Italian tours for renowned international artists such as Norah Jones, Katy Perry, Amy Winehouse, Joss Stone, Robbie Williams, Kings of Convenience, Jet, Vasco Rossi, Tiziano Ferro, and many others.
