This is an AFSS point score race.
All AFSS members are eligible to be a part of the AFSS point score. You do not need to travel interstate and compete at other AFSS races to be eligible for the national AFSS point score system.
If you are not an AFSS member you can still enter our race but will not be eligible for the national point score. You are still eligible for placings and prizes at this event.

โณ๏ธBeing a WASSA member does not make you a Running West member. Running West Sled Dog Club is an RGO (Race Giving Organisation) and not a membership club.
โณ๏ธBeing an ASSA member does not make you an AFSS member. These are two separate national bodies, and memberships do not transfer to the other.
โณ๏ธAll AFSS members receive discounted entry fees.
โณ๏ธNon AFSS members will need to pay a casual member fee for the weekend, to be covered by insurance. *This is for race entrants only.

Our race location will be Jarrahwood State Forest, approximately 30 minutes from Busselton. For those familiar with WASSA Jarrahwood races we are camping on the same air strip, however our tracks will differ from the WASSA tracks.
You will be camping and will require your own camping gear and will need to provide your own meals. We are camping in the bush, so you need to be as self-sufficient as possible. Portaloos will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own.

4 and 3-dog (run together)
2-dog (scooter)
1-dog bikejor (experienced mushers only)
2-dog touring and 2-dog veteran (run together)
1-dog touring and 1-dog veteran (run together)
Junior and Novice (run together)
Canicross (open to juniors and adults)
Pee Wee (children 9 years and younger) โ No entry Fee, but still need to be included on the race entry forms.
Please note:
โข 1-dog bikejor is the ONLY class permitted to use a bike.
โข You are not permitted to use a bike in the non-competitive โtouringโ classes. (This is different to WASSA.)
โข Your dog may only enter one class per day, plus canicross.
โข 1 and 2-dog veteran classes are for DOGS aged 7 or older.
โข Non-competitive classes mean โtouringโ classes.
โข Junior class: young people aged 10-16.
โข Senior classes: 14 years +

Running West Sled Dog Club is affiliated with the Australian Federation of Sleddog Sports (AFSS) and races under AFSS rules. You must comply with the rules, including the dog vaccination policy. A copy of the rules and vaccination statement can be found at

Under AFSS rules, dogs are NOT permitted to race with a muzzle.
