A community march from the Beacon car park to the harbour gate by Scott Pallets demanding our right of access to the East Dock Burntisland Harbour
Why?
To show the strength of community feeling ahead of an important Fife Council Meeting on the 14 August, when potential enforcement action to restore public access to the Harbour will be considered.
Will it make a difference?
We think so. The more people who turn out the stronger the message.
Are you sure we have a right of access?
Yes. Our lawyers BTO have advised us that we have statutory rights of access and Fife Council have accepted that the Council is responsible for upholding rights of access.
But the fence has been up for 3 years already?
I know. It’s really not good enough, which is why we have to make sure the Council knows just how important access is to us. We must keep up the pressure.
Are our local Councillors in support?
Yes, all three local Councillors are supportive as is the Community Council, all of our MSPs and our MP.
Will we win?
We think so. The law is on our side, but we must keep up the pressure, so please join the march if you can.
But will it be safe to bring the kids?
Yes, completely. All ages are welcome. The police, the Council and the landowner have been informed and the event will be entirely peaceful. Stewards and first aiders will be on duty.
Stand up for your rights. March to the sound of the pipes. Together we can unlock the dock!
