Learn the opposite roll with Amy in August!
Join us on August 16th for a workshop with Amy Shibasaki to learn the opposite WCS role. This workshop will teach experienced leads how to follow, and experienced follows how to lead. If you’re already comfortable in WCS and want to expand your experience, this is the workshop for you! This is not a workshop for beginners (we’ll have another beginners bootcamp in September see this event:

"Why learn the opposite role?" you may ask. Learning the opposite roll helps give you perspective and appreciation for your partner. A primary lead will learn what they are asking their follow to do, and a primary follow will better understand why the leads are looking intensely up at the ceiling while they do three push-breaks in a row.
Another reason learning the opposite roll is fun: it opens opportunities for “switch” dancing. Switching is when, during the dance, the lead and follow trade roles! How fun is that?!
In September, we are running a “Switch and Steal” intensive (

The August Trading Places Workshop with Amy will be followed by a social dance. The cost of the workshop includes admission to the dance.

Who: Amy Shibasaki, nicknamed “The Poster Child for People Who Can’t Dance” by her friends, Amy is living (dancing?) proof that anyone can get comfortable on the dance floor. She’s been sharing her love of West Coast Swing with new dancers, through local classes and workshops across BC for over 10 years alongside her husband, Michael.
