The continent of Daracath has remained silent for the better part of two centuries. Isolated and shrouded in mystery, no outsider was permitted to enter, or even approach, its surrounding waters. Countless attempts at communication were made, spies were dispatched, but nothing ever came back. No words, no bodies.
Until two and a half years ago.
A young lordling of Calmia, heir to a minor mercantile house, set sail with a single ship and a modest crew, determined to circumnavigate the globe and be the first to do so. Caught in a violent storm, they were shipwrecked on the shores of Daracath. Seeking aid, the survivors stumbled upon an abandoned village. Venturing further inland, they were beset by horrors: demons, the undead, and monstrous abominations. Of the one hundred who had left Calmia, only fourteen returned. Among them was the lordling, now older, scarred, and hardened by battle.
Word spread quickly: Daracath, once the heart of one of the most powerful empires in history, now lay in ruin - its cities empty, its lands crawling with unspeakable creatures. Further investigation revealed troubling truths: divination magic failed upon its soil, resurrection proved impossible, and teleportation was dangerously unreliable.
Yet, despite these dangers, lords, guilds, and empires began sending expeditions to reclaim the continent, hoping to return with its lost treasures and forgotten magic. Islands surrounding the mainland were gradually secured, forts raised, and calls sent out for adventurers. Many answered; few returned.
And you? Well, kid… I don’t know. But you look like you might be cut from the right cloth. Don’t worry, you might just make it.
