Do you have a costume or cosplay that you've been working on forever but can't seem to finish? Do you want to develop a new creative skill or improve your knowledge in skills you already have? Do you want to make some new friends, hang out, and talk about our favorite fandoms? Then the "Costume Craft Club" is for you!
This club for middle- and high- schoolers is designed to be a place where kids can make some cool things and meet some new friends in a relaxing, fun atmosphere. Held weekly on Wednesdays at 2pm in June and July, at the Bryan Main Library, we're going to primarily focus on cosplay/costuming skills like sewing, making props, and painting, but we'll have supplies for other creative outlets too and all crafts are welcome! People who are working on something specific are encouraged to bring in their work. Those who are interested in any or all of these topics but not working on their own project currently are also more than welcome to come and simply enjoy the vibe.
Most days, craft supplies will be put out for participants to use as they wish and we will have music or a movie playing in the background. Kids are welcome to work on their own projects, chat, and pick up something new. Snacks may be offered. On certain days (more information to follow) there will be a focused topic for those who want to learn to a specific skill.
Participants will be lightly supervised by an adult, and will be expected to ask for help if they are trying something new or if they need assistance. Safety guidelines will be gone over at the first session. Some crafting tools (scissors, hot glue guns, sewing machines) can be dangerous if used incorrectly. By signing your child up for this program, you acknowledge that you understand these tools will be made available to your child and you agree that the library is not liable for any injury resulting from improper use of crafting tools or materials during this program.
