Jared Becker Quartet @ The Brunswick Green

Melbourne saxophonist Jared Becker returns to The Brunswick Green for a debut performance with his new quartet, presenting two sets of original contemporary jazz alongside choice standards from the American Songbook. Joining him on the bandstand are friends and maestros Matt Steele (piano), Robbie Finch (double bass), and Luke Andreson (drums).

Jared’s compositions emphasise the thematic, the spiritual, and the emotive, using open forms that invite the ensemble to build, react, and tell stories through improvisation. Standards will include selections from the likes of John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, and Charles Mingus.

This event will take place on the lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present, and acknowledge their ongoing struggle for recognition and sovereignty.
