In October, The Distant South are teaming up with Nathan Seeckts, one Australia’s most passionate, honest and downright talented songwriters for a night of incredible original Alt country music. Saturday 18th of October, 3 to 5pm at The Union Hotel in Brunswick.
The Distant South is an independent Alt-Country band based in Melbourne, Australia. Their songs are written with brutal honesty — confessional, raw, and instantly relatable. Blending the sounds of Country, Folk, Blues, and Soul, The Distant South channel heartache and angst into captivating performances that are melancholic… yet somehow uplifting. With two EPs and a full-length album already behind them, the band is currently back in the studio, hard at work on their second album, due for release in 2026.
Nathan Seeckts. Seemingly hewn from Bellarine Peninsula basalt, Seeckts’ vocal is imbued with all the heart worn grit of Steve Earle, grounding songs that are alternately heaving, shivering and jangling with feeling. Whether punching out a heartland belter or immersed in a nostalgic reverie, Nathan Seeckts delivers immense humanity, compassion, and catharsis.
