Brooklyn-raised poet Elvis Alvis returns to Greenlight for the launch of his fourth collection Exile Is Home. In these poems, Alves examines the drudgery of work and the draw of the creative mind, juxtaposing these aspects in the attempt to reveal the freedom that is inherent in being human. A collection that encapsulates the author’s propensity to gaze at society with a critical eye, Exile Is Home also shines light on that which engenders hope. Acclaimed poets JP Howard (Say/Mirror) and Cathy Linh Che (Becoming Ghosts) join Alves for a rich evening of poetry, followed by audience Q&A and book signing.
