This course is part of our Level 2 Performing programme, which also includes ‘Exploring Narrative’ and ‘Approaches to Scenework’. Completion of the full carousel of Level 1 is recommended prior to taking this course. At this level, we combine skills development with personalised feedback and coaching for performing improvised theatre & comedy.
In this course, participants are given the opportunity to shape and perform their own improv show, with the guidance of an experienced director.
By the end of the course, students will:
- Understand some improv show formats and develop their own
- Understand how clarifying group expectations and an artistic vision can aid the development of a show
- Develop tools for self-reflection, and the ability to give and receive notes as a director
- Have clear next steps for finding local performance opportunities
This course culminates in an (optional) performance of the new improv show, made by the group, for an invited audience of fellow students, friends and family.
