On Friday, January 24 2025, the Bristol Fourth of July committee pulled the rug from out underneath Thames & Hope Street businesses by relocating the Bristol Fourth of July Concert Series.
In light of this event, we need to rally and support local businesses.
On Saturday June 21, the first full day of summer, please join your fellow community members in Independence Park for a ‘Picnic in the Park’!
There is no RSVP, there is no event or anything happening, instead, place an order for takeout at anyone of the various Thames / Hope Street businesses then, head to Independence Park, and enjoy a picnic with your family and community members at a place that means so much to so many during the Fourth of July.
Many of these restaurants look forward to this week to ensure they make enough money to last for the season, and year.
Without our support during the days leading up to the Fourth, some may have to make difficult decisions.
While we encourage everyone to have a picnic in the park every night, we understand ordering dinner 13 nights can be hefty, but whatever you can do. If you are unable to
purchase dinner every night, perhaps pack a picnic basket and head down and show the Fourth of July committee, Independence Park means something to us!
Bring your chairs, blankets, speakers for (appropriate) music, and mingle with fellow community members in the park. Please remember and respect town ordinances while picnicking in the park; No alcohol, no littering, and kindly no smoking in a public gathering.
