Are you looking for a new craft, mindful hobby or way to utilise your fabric scraps? Join me for a hands-on workshop learning the art of Rug Hooking.
This craft has been practiced all over the world for hundred of years. In Australia we utilise a mix of new and pre-loved fibres to create our art pieces. Not only does this make it an economical craft but also an eco friendly one, helping to reduce the hundreds of tonnes of fibre waste created each year. Apparently Aussies send 23kg of textiles to landfill per person each year! Not me… I get crafty! 😁
During the workshop you will how to hook, creating your own unique small mat, coaster or cushion. I will shared tips on backing materials, selecting & cutting fabrics, choosing colours and fabric types to make your designs come to life with depth & texture.
This simple, no-knots process can be used to create useful rugs, cushion covers, bags or more ornate pieces of art to hang on your wall.
We will be Mindfully making and Consciously Creating 💚♻️ No experience is necessary.
All items are supplied. I will bring along a selection of fabrics, yarns and wools to share, making sure you have plenty to complete your piece at home.
Attendees are also encouraged to bring a selection of colourful fabrics (excluding denim) to upcycle and personalise their artwork. These could include old t-shirts, scarves, pillowcases and/or a selection of yarn.
