Design on Draft: City of Brevard Architectural Standards + Happy Hour

Join us for AIA Western North Carolina’s very first Design on Draft event! This new series was created to engage design professionals throughout our region—not just in Buncombe County. Our goal is to bring learning and connection opportunities closer to home for all our members, wherever they practice.

We’re kicking off the series in Brevard with a special presentation by the City of Brevard’s Planning Office on the city's brand-new Architectural Standards. Brevard is a city with a unique and distinct character, and these standards are designed to ensure that future construction reflects and supports that identity.

Built on community input, the new standards identify Character Areas with their own materials, building types, and architectural details. Drawing from Brevard’s history and existing structures, the guidelines promote thoughtful growth that stays true to the city’s spirit.

The first part of the event will be the presentation, followed by a relaxed happy hour where you can connect with city planners, ask questions, and network with fellow architects and designers from around the region.
