Fri 6/20, Intro to Spoon Carving with Teresa Audet

Learn to carve a spoon starting from a tree! In this workshop, students will be introduced to the world of green wood carving, starting from freshly cut wood and ending with a one-of-a- kind spoon. Students will learn how to safely use whittling knife, gouges, and hook knives, through several knife grips and carving techniques. Each student will design and carve their own spoon to take home.


Bio: Teresa Audet is an artist and educator based in Pittsburgh, PA. She creates sculptures combining woodworking and basketry techniques. Her work looks at object-making as a meditative and transformative act, focusing on joy, play, and resilience. Audet grew up in Minnesota, received a BFA in Furniture Design from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2011 and an MFA in Interdisciplinary Art from UW-Madison in 2023. Audet participates in artist residencies and exhibitions, teaches art to both adults and children nationwide, and has a studio in Wilkinsburg above Workshop!
