Meet the Local Author: Naykishia Darby

Join us to meet local author Naykishia Darby on Saturday, June 14 at 2:00 pm! Poet, literary scholar, and English professor, Naykishia will be speaking on her book of selected poems, Reflective Expressions.

Reflective Expressions is a collection of personal poems comes from a place of hurt, healing, and resilience. With the order of each piece, the reader see the healing process that evolves from the life-changing moments of one’s life. Focusing on topics ranging from friendship to motherhood to medical cannabis, this is a collection that is sure to engage its reader.

Naykishia is an advocate for diversity and equity and focuses her research interests on the LGBTQIA+ Student experience at the Historically Black College and/or University (HBCU), Black Women’s literature, and gender identity and expression in Black Women performing artists. Additionally, she has served as panelist, presenter, and moderator at several academic and social conferences and published scholarly and creative works in journals and books.
