WHY: At Early Childhood Service Corps we are interested in creating multigenerational or intergenerational experiences! This evening, we plan on doing just that with Music and Nicole!
We believe that intergenerational activities provide numerous benefits for all participants, in this instance, as they collaborate creatively while making music. This shared activity encourages communication and understanding across age groups, helping to bridge generational gaps. Our host ECSC Partner Site families and our ECSC Corps Members will benefit from developing a shared sense of achievement as they create music together, boosting self-esteem and promoting confidence. Music also serves as a powerful way to preserve traditions and shared histories between participants. So join us!
ABOUT OUR FACILITATOR:
Nicole Bakker is a music therapist, educator, and owner of Notes With Nicole Music Services LLC. Nicole is a board-certified music therapist and certified K–12 music educator based in Denver, Colorado. Her journey into music therapy began long before she earned her master's degree in 2017—it started with a lifelong love of music and a deep desire to care for others.
Growing up, Nicole studied voice, dabbled in piano, and later picked up the guitar. But it was during a volunteer trip to a children’s hospital in Israel at age 16 that she truly understood the power of music. Standing in a room full of children and their families, she began to sing—and everything changed. The room fell silent, and she could feel music creating a moment of connection, calm, and healing. That was when she knew: music could make a difference, and she wanted to be part of that.
Notes With Nicole’s mission is to create meaningful growth and connection through music. Based in Denver, they provide music therapy sessions and early childhood music classes that support emotional, cognitive, social, and motor development.
