About the event

Unlocking Hidden Records: Mastering Full-text Search on Family Search
The Northern Waters Genealogical Society invites you to their next meeting on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, 6-7 pm, at the Boulder Junction Community Center, 5392 Park Street. A brief business meeting will follow. Guests may attend in person or join on Zoom.

This month’s program is “Unlocking Hidden Records: Mastering Full-text Search on Family Search” with Guest Speaker, Angie Shumway by Zoom. Learn how to harness the power of Full-Text Search on FamilySearch to uncover hidden records and expand your genealogical research. This presentation will guide you through the essential "5 Ws"—Who, What, Where, When, and Why—of Full-Text Search, showing you how to refine your searches with name variations, wildcard symbols, and date filters. Discover tips for locating probate, land, and plantation records, and see how accessing FamilySearch Centers can unlock restricted collections. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced researcher, this session will equip you with practical strategies to maximize search efficiency and uncover new insights into your family history.
