Unity among Confessional Lutherans will never be achieved unless we boldly confess against the errors in doctrine and practice in our own synods and fellowships. But “confessing” requires “confessions.”

At our first annual Chemnitz Conference, we will be working toward a confessional article on Ecclesiology in the Church.

What are the implicit and explicit scriptural boundaries of church polity?

From whence does ecclesiastical authority derive, and what are its limits?

What polity can survive if synods break down, particularly in time of persecution?

What polity can protect and uphold the office of the ministry?

What limits should be put into place to protect from the abuse of monetary and other levers of power?
