Bat Program with Steve Betchkal

Bats are nocturnal insectivores that get around just fine in the dark – but you don’t have to. Join naturalist and Emmy-award-winning journalist Steve Betchkal to learn more about the amazing and secret world of nature’s only winged mammals.

This free program is sponsored by the Friends of the Bloomer Public Library. Open to the public. Suitable for all ages!

Steve Betchkal has hiked/camped/backpacked/traveled all 50 U.S. states & Puerto Rico, 88 National Wildlife Refuges, 85 National Parks, 55 National Forests, and 4 Canadian provinces in pursuit of wild birds. In 2017 he worked in the Galápagos for Lindblad-National Geographic.

Steve is an ornithologist and ecologist, Master Naturalist, and Eau Claire liaison for Welcome Back Bird Day. He is the author of 8 books, including his latest 101 Apologus Nights.
