This class will focus on techniques and processes to create a successful gouache painting. Topics to be covered include: Similarities and differences of gouache to other painting mediums like watercolor, acrylic and oil; The setup used to create a gouache painting, including supplies; and how to preserve your painting.
Supplies
• Brushes - Recommended brushes for water medium. Flat, filbert, and round
• Gouache Paints - Any professional gouache paint set consisting of at least the primary colors and white will work.
• Painting Surface - any material intended for water-based medium should work such as heavy watercolor paper, illustration board or watercolor panel.
• A subject to paint. This class will not be focused on a specific subject but instead the techniques to make any painting. If the subject is complicated, it might be good to sketch it out on your painting surface before the class.
• Optional supplies: spray bottle, easel
Winsor & Newton gouache paint sets, brushes and painting surfaces can be purchased at Carden Custom Framing where you'll receive 30% off. Any supplies needed should be ordered before June 7th to ensure delivery by the class.
Class Fee: $35 for BAGA Members and $40 for non-members
Students should refer to the supply list and bring necessary supplies.
