Surge Forward presents Germa Adan & Friends

Experience the powerful sound of Germa Adan, a composer, vocalist, and string musician whose music weaves Haitian, American, and British folk traditions with the rich textures of the Afro-diaspora and the spirit of jazz.

Born in Haiti, raised in the US and now living in the UK, Germa creates immersive performances that blend layered string and vocal harmonies with poetic storytelling and social consciousness — inviting audiences into deeply moving musical worlds.

Her acclaimed second album, Borderlines & Bloodlines, explores Haitian heritage and oral history, featuring collaborations with Xhosa Cole and Kadialy Kouyate. It was named one of Folk Alley’s Best Trad Albums of 2023.

For one night only, Germa will be joined by local musicians Ruth Angell (violin) and Richard Tunnicliffe (cello), adding even more richness to this special performance.
