Founded in 1909 as Birmingham Slag Company, today the company's footprint touches 22 states, four countries. Vulcan is a Fortune 500 company (VMC) produces and supplies construction aggregates in the United States. It operates through three segments: Aggregates, Asphalt, and Concrete. The company provides crushed stone, sand and gravel, sand, riprap and jetty stones, and other aggregates for use in construction and maintenance of highways, streets, and other public works, as well as in the construction of housing and commercial, industrial, and other nonresidential facilities; asphalt mix; asphalt construction paving services; and ready-mixed concrete products.
About the Speakers
Baron Worthington is Vice President of Economic Analysis for Vulcan Materials Company. In his role he is responsible for analyzing macroeconomic drivers and construction-related data, as well as the forecasting of construction materials demand at the local, state, and national levels. Baron provides support to Vulcan’s Senior Leadership Team, investor relations, and the commercial side of the business. In addition to internal support, he has been an invited speaker to various industry organizations across the country.
Baron has worked at Vulcan for 28 years and has held various positions within the company. He has been in his current role for the past 15 years.
Baron is a graduate of the University of Alabama where he earned his degree in Quantitative Finance and Economics.
Pete Thomason is an Economic Analyst for Vulcan Materials Company. He supports business leaders across Vulcan by working with sales, construction, economic, and industry data to inform strategic and tactical decisions, including working directly with Vulcan's Senior Leadership team.
Prior to joining Vulcan 3 years ago, Pete worked as a business analyst for Georgia-Pacific LLC and Raytheon (now RTX).
Pete is a graduate of Mississippi College where he earned a Business Administration degree with a concentration in Accounting and an MBA with a concentration in Finance.
