Rango

Saturday, June 3rd, we will be playing two special FREE ADMISSION screenings of Gore Verbinski's terrific 2011 animated western fantasy, RANGO, at the historic Babcock Theatre as this month's film in our MOVIE BUFFS series, presented by TDS Telecommunications LLC!
Easily one of the most interesting animated films of the 2010s, RANGO puts a unique spin on both the western and the underdog story, resulting in a gorgeously animated work that often teeters in to postmodern territory! With a distinctly characteristic style, a surreal, sun-bleached world of anthropomorphic creatures, and a starring voice role from Johnny Depp, RANGO is an absolute blast of a contemporary animated feature that the whole family can enjoy!
When a family pet chameleon named Rango falls out of his owner's vehicle amid what seems to be an actor's identity crisis, he finds himself stranded in the blistering and hostile desert before stumbling into the frontier town of Dirt. In the midst of tackling his identity crisis where he hopes to find how to stand out while he was born to blend in, opportunity strikes, and he is positioned as the towns new sheriff. Blatantly inexperienced and effectively role-playing his new job, Rango is soon forced to become the town's hero when a series of dangerous situations and concerns regarding the water supply threatens the lives of everyone in Dirt!
