Unequal Scenes - Communicating Aerial Photography and Neuroscience

What does an aerial photograph of a divided city have in common with a brain scan? Both can reveal invisible unequal lines—of stress, inequality, trauma—that shape how people live and think. In this provocative dialogue, artist and aerial photographer Johnny Miller joins neuroscientist Agustin Ibanez to explore the intersection of art and science in communicating complex truths about our environments. Drawing on Miller’s acclaimed Unequal Scenes project, which uses drones to visually expose spatial inequality, and cutting-edge neuroscience research into how urban design, pollution, and climate stress affect brain health, the conversation will dive into the emerging field of the “exposome”—the totality of environmental exposures we face, and how they are relevant to us, even in the most "equal" locations.
