The project “The Silence of the Classics” was conceived to free stage action from words and return the text to its natural “paper” habitat. Within this project, we have silenced the plays of Shakespeare, Schiller, Kleist, and Chekhov. In the performance “The Silence of the Classics: Euripides’ The Bacchae” Vsevolod Lisovsky and the performers went further: they eliminated not only words but also clothing. It turned out that without these two cultural supports, the natural behavior of contemporary people on stage begins to correspond to a play written two and a half thousand years ago. The creators themselves cannot fully comprehend this phenomenon, but they are happy to repeat the experiment year after year.
The Bacchae is an ironic pretext to present “the classics” as they were written and to witness something far removed from what is “decent” and “elevated.” However, apart from the absence of clothing on the actors, The Bacchae fully retains both decency and elevation.

Das Projekt „Das Schweigen der Klassiker“ wurde ins Leben gerufen, um die Bühnenaktion von Worten zu befreien und den Text in seine natürliche „Papier“-Heimat zurückzuführen. In diesem Projekt haben wir die Stücke von Shakespeare, Schiller, Kleist und Tschechow zum Schweigen gebracht. In der Aufführung „Das Schweigen der Klassiker: Euripides’ Die Bakchen“ gingen Wsewolod Lisowski und die Darsteller noch weiter: Sie verzichteten nicht nur auf Worte, sondern auch auf Kleidung. Es stellte sich heraus, dass ohne diese beiden kulturellen Stützen das natürliche Verhalten moderner Menschen auf der Bühne plötzlich einem Stück entspricht, das vor zweieinhalbtausend Jahren geschrieben wurde. Die Schöpfer selbst können dieses Phänomen nicht vollständig begreifen, aber sie freuen sich, das Experiment Jahr für Jahr zu wiederholen.
Die Bakchen sind ein ironischer Vorwand, „die Klassiker“ so zu zeigen, wie sie geschrieben wurden, und dabei etwas zu erleben, das weit entfernt ist von dem, was „anständig“ und „erhaben“ genannt wird. Doch abgesehen vom Fehlen der Kleidung der Schauspieler bewahren Die Bakchen durchaus sowohl Anstand als auch Erhabenheit.

Проект «Молчание классиков» был придуман, чтобы освободить сценическое действие от слов и вернуть текст в его естественную «бумажную» среду обитания. В рамках этого проекта мы молчали пьесы Шекспира, Шиллера, Клейста, Чехова. В спектакле «Молчание классиков: «Вакханки» Еврипида» Всеволод Лисовский и перформеры пошли дальше: избавились не только от слов, но и от одежды. И тут выяснилось, что без этих двух культурных опор естественное поведение современных людей на сцене начинает соответствовать пьесе, написанной две с половиной тысячи лет назад. Авторы сами не не могут полностью понять этот феномен, но с удовольствием из года в год повторяют опыт.
«Вакханки» — ироничный предлог продемонстрировать «классику» такой, какой она написана, и увидеть нечто совсем далекое от «приличного» и «возвышенного». Впрочем, не считая отсутствия одежды на актерах, в «Вакханках» все хорошо с приличиями и возвышенностью.
