Steve Lyman is a contemporary and experimental musician currently based in Brooklyn, NY. Internationally recognized, he has collaborated with leading, forward-thinking artists across a range of genres, including jazz, rock, classical, experimental, and electronic music.
In 2020 Steve was named #2 up and coming drummer in Modern Drummer Magazine and has collaborated with: José James, Jon Batiste, Machinedrum, Members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Donny McCaslin, BlankFor.ms, Ben Lukas Boysen, Jimmy Chamberlin and many others. His upcoming release Signal to Burning features Cedric Bixler-Zavala of the Mars Volta, pianist Tigran Hamasyan and Nathan Schram of the Attacca String Quartet.
In addition to his collaborations, Steve is also a composer and producer of his own work, creating music that blends elements of experimental, electronic, ambient, and alternative styles.
As an educator, Steve teaches masterclasses at premier universities around the world and has taught some of the most renowned drummers of multiple styles globally.
