Splitter Orchester and Sonoscopia share not only the passion for custom made instruments and the preference for non-hierarchic organisation, but also the understanding that building a community and artistic practice are very much entangled.
Collaborating for the first time, Splitter Orchester has invited the portuguese sound art collective to Kleiner Wasserspeicher for the third concert of their Site Specific Concert Series.
Sonoscopia have spent the last months building an instrument especially for this occasion. The Sonar System, as they call it, is a massive, fragmented and automated organ that is playable simultaneously by multiple people. It is surrounded by numerous other custom made electroacoustic instruments, which will vastly add to the instruments that Splitter Orchester is usually playing.
Bringing together the Sonar System and the multi-faceted, ever evolving musical creativity of Splitter Orchester, the evening promises to be a profound, immersive sound experience that will acoustically explore the dimensions of the Wasserspeicher in a completely new way.
