Opening of "Newton, Riviera" & "Dialogues. Collection FOTOGRAFIS x Helmut Newton"

We cordially invite you to the upcoming opening of the double exhibition "Newton, Riviera / Dialogues. Collection FOTOGRAFIS x Helmut Newton" on Thursday, 4 September 2025, 7 - 10 pm.

"Newton, Riviera" was originally curated and exhibited at the historic Villa Sauber in Monte Carlo, back in 2022. An excerpt from that exhibition will now be presented at the our Foundation – parallel to "Dialogues. Collection FOTOGRAFIS × Helmut Newton" – thus continuing the exploration of the places and focal points important to the photographer. This show sheds more light on the Newtons' late residence and the entire region, where so many of Helmut Newton's iconic photographs were created.

With the second exhibition, "Dialogues. Collection FOTOGRAFIS × Helmut Newton," we are taking a completely new look at our founder's oeuvre. This exhibition is like a playful experiment that only reveals itself and becomes complete through on-site reception. The new, experimental exhibition at our Berlin-based museum reveals different facets of humanity and the development of social life over an entire century by juxtaposing Newton's photographs with a "partner motif" by Diane Arbus, Alfred Stieglitz, Margaret Bourke-White, Elliott Erwitt, Florence Henri, Duane Michals, Paul Strand, Man Ray, August Sander, Judy Dater, Otto Steinert, and many other famous names in the history of photography of the 19th and 20th centuries. These pairs of images, sometimes complementary, sometimes repulsive, but always surprising, have never been presented together before.
