MONAliesA is a library, archive, and event space in Leipzig. Since 1990, it has been enabling and promoting literary education and exchange, especially among women, lesbians, trans, and queer people of different generations. For this year’s Tanznacht Berlin, MONAliesA is mobilizing and bringing a curated selection of its collection to the Uferstudio 12. Visitors will have the opportunity to get a glimpse of this unique collection, which focuses among other things on exploring DDR history. Literature and materials on various topics such as sexuality, abuse and trauma, work and unemployment, and feminist theory are available for reading on site. The resulting temporary feminist library — staged through the spatial design by choreographer Lee Meir — also offers space for different sijelos, i.e., for social gatherings and knowledge transfer. For example, on September 12, MONAliesA’s director Barbara Schnalzger will present the collection in a public discussion.
