Join us @dim.things in Berlin for an evening (10/10) with Dror Feiler—composer, improviser, visual artist, and activist—whose politically charged sonic and visual work challenges the boundaries between aesthetics and action. Born in Tel Aviv in 1951, Feiler has spent his life navigating the intersections of music, art, and resistance. Since moving to Sweden in 1973, he has emerged as one of Scandinavia’s most uncompromising artistic voices.
Feiler will present selected excerpts from his compositions and art installations, interwoven with reflections on how political resistance, sonic intensity, and ethical commitment shape his creative process. From the explosive textures of his orchestral works to the conceptual provocations of his visual art, his practice demands not only to be experienced—but confronted.
In 2004, his controversial installation Snow White and the Madness of Truth, created with Gunilla Sköld-Feiler, drew a public attack from an Israeli ambassador, sparking international debate on censorship, martyrdom, and artistic freedom. His work, merging high-volume sonic aggression, improvisational urgency, and political clarity, has consistently provoked both acclaim and controversy. In 2008, his orchestral work Halat Hisar (“State of Siege”) was withdrawn from a Munich concert by the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra due to its extreme volume.
In 2010, Feiler participated in the Gaza Freedom Flotilla and was arrested by Israeli forces for challenging the blockade—a direct extension of the deeply political nature of his art.
Following the presentation, a moderated Q&A will invite the audience into an open conversation about the role of art in protest, the limits of expression, and the power of dissonance as a political and emotional force.
