Block Print Berlin: Design Meets Function - Young Designers Masterclass

Design meets function in this hands-on masterclass. Young designers will explore the placement of blocks and print a functional art piece. We will apply motifs with intention along borders, seams, and surfaces. We will learn how to create and design functional art. Each participant can choose from a variety of print surfaces to create something that is not only beautiful but also functional.

Everyday objects become personal works of art as young designers learn techniques they can apply to bags, clothes, and more. We learn about eco-crafting, using safe, eco-conscious materials, guided by expert printmakers in a professional lab.

We start to explore our own visual language.

(The instruction of the workshop is in English, but it is not difficult to follow. Our workshop facilitator is an experienced and qualified arts and culture teacher, journalist, designer and visual arts researcher with 25 + years of experience in arts education, writing and visual research.)

- Handcarved woodblocks from our atelier collection

- Eco-friendly, biodegradable inks (safe and non-toxic)

- Natural cotton fabrics for test printing and final piece

- Professional print tables and tools (brushes, dampers, aprons, etc.)

- Small group size (max 8) ensures one-on-one guidance

- A printed textile piece of your choice

- Choose from teatowels, maxi tote bags, artist pouches, bandanas, furoshikis etc.

- For this session we also have heavy cotton canvas and light canvas for wall art

- Your test prints from the session, our #flow testprints are a hit!
