Our Autumn Rhythm sessions are designed for reflection, creative exploration, and the discovery and creation of pattern.
With an Autumn Rhythm experience, your first prints become part of a creative study in rhythm and design.
In this immersive session, you’ll explore eco-friendly and biodegradable inks, work with hand-carved woodblocks and found tools. We will explore and practice the art of building patterns through repetition.
All our experiences are guided by our love for Bauhaus design, our Print Thinking philosophy, and rooted in our heritage craft research.
You will leave with a collection of test prints and a wearable or functional textile you’ve printed yourself. More importantly, we know that you will have the confidence to keep exploring print, pattern, and textile design.
(For this series, we also encourage participants to bring their own textile piece. You have a 1m by 1m print space on a print table to work with.)
Our most requested workshop series yet is an exploration into pattern making. We will explore rhythm, repetition, and layering techniques and print unique textiles.
This new series builds on our Intro to Block Printing, adding the deeper challenge of creating and composing repeat patterns. It’s a format refined through the insights of over 150 participants who joined our 30+ eco-craft and slow design workshops in the past year.
Every exercise, every challenge, has been developed in response to the creative explorations and feedback of our printmaking community.
In one immersive session, you’ll step into the full Māya creative process: from intuitive, eco-friendly colour exploration and #FLOW test printing, to the rhythm of building patterns, and crafting of your own textile piece.
Inspired by the Bauhaus teachings, our Print Thinking approach, and heritage craft research, this autumn series explores how repetition and layering can transform even the simplest motif into something truly unique.
As a budding printmaker, you will leave with a collection of #Flow test prints, a wearable or functional textile you printed yourself, and most importantly, the confidence and inspiration to continue your journey in print and pattern.
