A creative fusion of tradition, storytelling, and contemporary dance.
"Heart of Glass" is a 5-month choreography project that bridges Afro-Cuban movement, contemporary dance, and creative exploration. Each session combines:
✨ 90 minutes of Afro-Cuban technique and folklore
We explore Afro-Cuban body principles through technique, storytelling, and the rich symbolism of the Orishas, their movements, rhythms, and tales. Rooted in the elements of earth, water, fire, and wind, this part of the course invites you to reconnect with ancestral knowledge and uncover your own story through embodied experience.
✨ 90 minutes of creative and contemporary exploration where we fuse these roots with modern movement, improvisation, and composition. Together, we’ll craft compelling choreography that blends the dynamic techniques of Afro-Cuban movement culture with the fluidity and innovation of contemporary dance. Explore, create, and bring meaningful stories to life through this unique fusion of tradition and modernity.
Together, we’ll create expressive group scenes that reflect emotion, tension, and transformation building a choreography that unfolds naturally over time, shaped by the dancers themselves.
This project is designed to expand your creative potential, deepen your body awareness, and help you find new ways to tell stories through movement. No matter your background, you’re invited to bring your curiosity, sensitivity, and courage to experiment.
Led by Sarah Balzat, dancer, choreographer, philosopher and coach, who combines dance, psychology, and creative process to help dancers explore their authentic expression and confidence.
