Ponderosa is a UC Berkeley Based Bluegrass band Featuring Jasper Manning (mandolin) and Spencer Krenz (guitarist from Moonbloom) who invite a variety of other talented local bluegrass artists to play around the Bay Area.

For this show they are joined by Chad Manning (Jasper’s father, who played with the David Grisman sextet for many years, and has been a pinnacle educator and facilitator of growing the bluegrass community in the Bay Area) on Fiddle, Sam Jacobs from The Broken Compass Bluegrass band out of Grass Valley on bass, & Finn Tobias from DeltaGrass in Sacramento.

Other special guests include lead singer Luna Martinez and Pianist Jonah Hiro on piano (both from Moonbloom), as well as many special guests of the bluegrass scene of Northern California.

The band will explore songs from the repertoire of Jerry Garcia & David Grisman, Old and in the way, and well as bluegrass covers of Grateful Dead songs.
