We invite you to join us in commemorating our Legados 3 event: Honoring Mestre Jelon and 50 years of Capoeira in the US with a festive dinner, including a vegetarian / vegan option. The evening's entertainment will feature special guests, musicians, teachers, and performers of Capoeira. Additionally, there will be some fun archival photos and arts displays to enhance the celebration. The dinner package includes a selection of non-alcoholic beverages. A cash bar will be available for those looking to toast to the occasion.

It has been 50 years, give or take, since the art form of Capoeira, and other manifestations of Afro-Brazilian arts, started to take hold in the United States. Mestre Jelon arrived in NYC with Loremil Machado in 1975. The two were soon joined by Mestre Acordeon who arrived on the West Coast in 1978. CAF is celebrating this legacy work with dinners, shows, workshops, conversations, and a special 24hr roda.
