Michael Doucet is a Grammy-winning Cajun fiddler, composer, and bandleader born in Scott, Louisiana, in 1951, best known for his pioneering work with the band BeauSoleil to revitalize Cajun music for modern audiences. He is a recipient of a National Heritage Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts and has incorporated diverse influences, including zydeco, jazz, and country, into his traditional Cajun sound, documenting and sharing the history and culture of Cajun music through performance and education.
Tom Rigney is one of the premier American Roots Music fiddle players on the planet. His band Tom Rigney and Flambeau–specializes in blazing Cajun and Zydeco two-steps, low-down Blues, funky New Orleans grooves, Boogie Woogie piano, and heartbreakingly beautiful ballads and waltzes. Much of the repertoire is composed by Rigney, but they mix in some classics from the Cajun/New Orleans songbook. Along the way you may pick up a trace of Rigney’s Irish roots, or echoes of folk music styles–it just makes the musical gumbo that much tastier.
Flambeau showcases Rigney’s fiery, virtuoso fiddling, his charismatic stage presence, and his range and originality as a composer. He and Flambeau have forged a unique sound that blends American Roots styles into something original and HOT–mixing irresistible grooves with deep musicality and spectacular soloing. Rigney’s high-energy showmanship pulls the audience into his performances and makes them feel they are a part of the music and the show.
The Revelers are a Louisiana music group, composed of founding members of the Red Stick Ramblers and the Pine Leaf Boys. They play in the styles of Cajun, zydeco, Swamp Pop, and Americana. They have toured the United States and Canada extensively, the UK, Ireland, and Denmark. They are a festival mainstay having played at the Blackpot Festival, Tønder, Shakori Hills, both Rhythm and Roots, Wheatland, Sugar Maple Fest, Festival International de Louisiane, Grey Fox, Clearwater's Hudson River Revival, the Red Wing Roots Music Festival and countless others. They are also in-demand in the music education scene, having been on staff at Ashokan Fiddle & Dance, Balfa Week, Miles of Music Camp, FiddleTunes, and Blackpot Camp.
