The ancient art of alchemy explored the mysteries and transmutations of matter. But the alchemists were not confined to concrete reality alone—their work blurred the boundaries between the physical and the psychic, infusing their experiments with imagination and symbolic meaning. As a result, alchemy offers a powerful framework for understanding and facilitating psychological transformation.
In this class, we will explore Alchemical Inner Work, a technique developed by Alyssa Polizzi that reimagines inner dynamics through the metaphorical language and concrete practices of alchemy. Rooted in Jungian and archetypal psychology traditions, this approach helps move us beyond literal interpretations of our experiences and into a symbolic, imaginal relationship with the psyche.
Participants will learn to identify their prima materia (the psychological material at the heart of a situation) and then to begin working with it through key alchemical operations. Drawing on emblems from alchemical texts and psychological principles, the workshop weaves alchemy’s rich archetypal themes with practical tools to support transformation, insight, and integration.
This event will be in-person and streamed online. Tickets for this event are sliding scale $25 - $75.
Alyssa is an educator and writer focused on inner work through the lens of archetypal studies and Jungian psychology. She is the founder of The Artemisian, a best-selling educational platform and community, as well as co-host of The Golden Shadow podcast.
Her teachings center around making the symbolic language of the psyche accessible, meaningful, and transformative. Drawing from over a decade of study in mythology, Jungian psychology, dreams, tarot, and alchemy, she guides others in understanding the underlying forces shaping their inner and outer worlds.
