Bella Vista residents and members of the public are invited to attend a public input session to review and offer comments on the city’s nearly completed code reform project.
Three drop-in sessions are planned for your convenience. The main event will be the June 17 evening event, during which the consultant will be on site with additional content. Information will be provided by city staff only during the sessions scheduled for daytime hours June 18 and 19.
• 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 17 at the Bella Vista Recreation Center, 3 Riordan Drive.
• 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 18 at the Bella Vista Police Department Training Room, 2483 Forest Hills Blvd.
• 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 19 at the Bella Vista Police Department Training Room, 2483 Forest Hills Blvd.
Each session will provide the same materials and information and offer an opportunity for residents and stakeholders to speak with the consultant and city staff on the new proposed code.
These regulations govern the use and development of land within city limits. They focus strictly on design and development, such as land use allowances, signage, street design, landscaping rules, etc.
Goals set for the completion of this project include creating design and development regulations that adhere to the City Council adopted 2040 Comprehensive Plan and preserving the natural character of the city, diversifying housing, improving connectivity, providing procedural clarity and responsibly capitalizing on the Northwest Arkansas regional growth.
The city first sought public comment when the project launched in October of 2023. Following this set of input sessions, the proposal will be presented in July to the Planning Commission for a formal public input session and their discussion. The commission members will then make a recommendation to the City Council, which will cast the final votes to approve or deny the project.
