We are delighted to feature Chef Kalee Lashley in our Chef’s Table series at Omni Bedford Springs Resort & Spa—a heartfelt tribute to the chefs whose stories are as rich and layered as their cuisine.
A second-generation chef from Cumberland, Maryland, Kalee’s culinary roots run deep. Raised in the heart of downtown Cumberland, she grew up in the kitchen of the Oxford House restaurant, working alongside her mother in a fine-dining institution that shaped her earliest memories. It was there that she discovered her passion for food—and the power of a shared meal.
Much of her foundation came from Jaye Rönnerstein Miller, a Swedish chef who once cooked for the Swedish Ambassador in Washington, D.C. To Kalee, she wasn’t just a mentor—she was her “Swedish Grandma.” Through Jaye, Kalee inherited not only refined technique but also a deep love for Swedish culinary traditions, which continue to inspire her today.
A proud alumna of Allegany College of Maryland, Kalee has built her career in catering, fine dining, education, and local competitions, always bringing her blend of warmth, precision, and creativity to every kitchen she enters. Her style is rooted in local ingredients, personal heritage, and a commitment to honoring the communities she cooks for.
At her Chef’s Table, guests can expect a deeply personal menu—a blend of Swedish influence, Appalachian flavor, and nostalgic touches from a life spent in the kitchen. It's a celebration of tradition, memory, and the joy of feeding others.
