Just announced: Ty Mares and the Metaphorical will set the stage for Kind Hearted Strangers on Tuesday, July 29 inside the club at Bird & Betty’s.
A sophisticated guitarist, Ty Mares is known for his illustrative blues solos, characterized by colorful chord progressions, and his distinctive vocal style.
As an original artist, Mares fuses every genre from R&B to pop, as well as a vast array of rock, all wrapped up in the whirlwind of jam.
Originally from Denver, Colorado, Ty Mares was raised in a military family, and attributes his worldliness, adaptability, and work ethic to the constant traveling he did growing up.
From the age of 13, Mares has studied under principal pianists and jazz guitarists before spending some time studying at Berklee College of Music. No amount of study, however, compares to the time he has spent improvising on stage with Cosmic Jerry Band.
For the last decade, he’s made a name for himself all along the Jersey Shore and surrounding cities as a force to be reckoned with on the guitar.
He’s shared the stage with members of Dark Star Orchestra, the Fugees, and Dogs in a Pile, to name a few.
Mares’ major influences growing up included John Mayer, Coldplay, and The 1975. B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Jerry Garcia would later become massive inspirations for him.
The Metaphorical (featuring Matt Hillblom on bass, Greg Warren on guitar, Anthony Mathisen on drums, & Tommy Allen Jr. on aux. percussion/vocals) redefines pop music, bringing it front and center into the arena of jam, inviting every kind of listener to embark on a sonic journey.
They open up the show at 9 PM!
Kind Hearted Strangers headlines at 10 PM, led by singer/songwriter Marc also originally from Colorado. This year finds the band creating and touring out of Nashville.
As the name implies, the project acts as the primary vessel for Townes’ artistic endeavors, as he has been joined by a variety of musicians for each recording project.
With a foundation built on well crafted songs, KHS has evolved into a dynamic live band capable of bridging the gap between all out rock n’ roll and harmony-driven acoustic roots.
The band’s latest LP entitled “Now.here” features a collaboration with visual artist/painter Dylan Lynch.
With no prepared material, the artists intentionally put pressure on themselves to create and deliver a Live Concert & Art Exhibition at the end of the week. The resulting album contains brand new material that was recorded live with the same raw energy and passion KHS has been delivering across the country during their busiest era of touring to date.
This one is not to be missed! See you there. ✌🏽
