The 9th Annual A Taste of the Deep South features various genres of music. Talent expected to appear include blues great Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor, along with the Listening Room All-Stars, including Kelton ‘Npsire Harper and the house band, My Better Half featuring Ervin “Maestro” Foster, Jim Masters and King Solomon. Other performers expected include Lil Ray Neal, 100 Meter Scream and Robert Lenoir. The festival, addition to a Vendor Village and Food Court, features three contests, a Henry Turner Jr. Look-A-Like, Dance and Watermelon Eating, along with an antique car show. The event is family friendly and free to the public. Special VIP tickets are available on the website. VIP Experience cost is $25.00 and includes two meal and two soft drink tickets. Turner VIP tickets are $100 for two people with two T-shirts, four meal and drink tickets, covered seating in the VIP access tent and a “Now” CD by Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor. Food is from the festival Taste of the Deep South kitchen. Festival hours are 12 noon to 8:00pm. The event is held at EBRPL-Main Library at 7711 Goodwood Boulevard, Baton Rouge, 70806.
