Steven Kirby US Jazz Guitarist Duo with John Close
After preforming together at the Brecon Jazz Festival in 2024 this transatlantic duo will be performing a selection of their favourite standards in an intimate duo setting.
Steven Kirby is a Professor as the esteemed Berklee College of Music in Boston, Ma, USA. In addition to being an acclaimed educator Kirby has also released three albums as a leader, “Point of Balance” (1998), “North Light” (2003) and “Illuminations” (2016). “North Light” features contributions from such jazz luminaries as Chris Potter (saxes), Bruce Barth (piano) and Scott Colley (bass). Kirby has also worked with the renowned saxophonist Joe Lovano.
Kirby is also the published author of Jazz Guitar Improvisation Strategies (Berklee Press/Hal Leonard) and has published educational material in a wide spectrum of music print and internet publications including Guitar Player, Just Jazz Guitar, Jazz Improv Magazine, Mike’s Masterclasses and True Fire.
John Close is a Jazz guitarist based in Cardiff and a regular feature of the local scene and is also guitarist with the Siglo Section big band.
