Corolla Wild Horse and Farm Tour Ages 8-14

Join us on August 4th and 5th for youth ages 8-14, as we travel to Corolla on the 4th for a guided tour to see the wild horses then on the 5th we will visit the Corolla Wild Horse Farm and learn all about the wild horses. We will meet at Currituck Extension where the van will leave both days for the tours.

Day 1 August 4th we will travel to Corolla for a guided tour to see actual wild horses. The van will leave back parking lot of Extension at 9am on the 4th and return by 4:30pm.

Day 2 August 5th we will travel to Grandy to the Corolla Wild Horse farm we will leave Extension at 8:30am and return at 12:30pm. Youth will learn how they rescue, observe, identify the wild horses on the beach by:

Touring of the rescue facility, learning how they prep for an emergency, filling out wild horse observation sheetYouths, finding GPS coordinates where the horses are, and teaching horse behavior cues. The van will leave back parking lot of Extension at 8:30 and return around 12:30pm

Participants will learn about grooming, haltering, and leading a formally Corolla Wild Banker Horse. They will also be learning basic first aid, and checking horse’s vitals, (breathing, pulse, and temperature), charting DNA, and checking the teeth for age.

There is a $45.00 registration fee. This may be paid online through eventbrite or you may pay with cash or check. Cash and check payments need to be received within five days of your registration. If you are paying by check please make it payable to NCSU, and mail it to NCCE 120 Community Way Barco NC 27917.

This is not a riding camp so no riding will be done.
