Make a beautiful small basket using marram grass legally harvested (it’s a protected species) following in the footsteps of the famous Niwbwrch marram mat weavers. Learn about their history while you learn a new skill in a friendly supportive environment.

Small Hen Basket Workshop

Join local basketmaker Karla Pearce at Neuadd Goffa in Mynydd Llandygai to make a small version of the Hen Basket, also known as an Ose. This lovely basket is thought to have originated in Scotland as a basket to carry broody hens from village to village, but was made famous in the 60s by Brigitte Bardot when she sported one as a handbag. You can use yours for any purpose you like!
