Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we share the passing of our beloved senior pastor, Pastor Joe Chavez, the founding father of City Harvest Church – Bacolod City, Negros and a national leader of BMI Philippines. He entered the presence of our Lord on July 3, 2025.
Pastor Joe was not only a faithful servant of God, but also a devoted husband, a loving father to his children, a spiritual father to many, a mentor, and a true friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was a testimony of unwavering faith, humility, and steadfast obedience to God’s call. He and his wife, Pastor Primrose Chavez, co-founded the ministry in 1988, and for nearly four decades, they served side by side planting seeds of faith, building churches, raising leaders, and nurturing countless lives through prayer, wisdom, and compassion.
His legacy is deeply rooted in the lives he touched and the churches he helped shape. Many within BMI and beyond recognize Pastor Joe as an iconic figure; respected, admired, and deeply loved. He led with strength and gentleness, with conviction and grace. His leadership went beyond titles; he led by example, with a heart anchored in Christ.
Now, we find comfort knowing that he is finally cancer-free, healed completely in the arms of our Savior, resting in the fullness of God’s eternal peace. While we grieve his passing, we also celebrate a life poured out for the glory of God.
Please continue to pray for his wife, Pastor Primrose, whose love and partnership with Pastor Joe was the very heart of this ministry. Her strength in this season is both a reflection of her deep faith and of the beautiful love story they shared in life and ministry. To the Chavez family—your pain is deeply felt by all of us, and your faith is admired. We are standing with you, lifting you in prayer, and surrounding you with our love.
Pastor Joe’s life has left a mark that eternity alone will measure. Though his voice may be silent, his impact will continue to speak, through every soul he discipled, every church he helped build, and every life he uplifted. He fought the good fight, he finished the race, and he kept the faith.
We honor you, Pastor Joe. Thank you for your life of service. Your legacy will never be forgotten.
