Coming to east Auckland, thanks to Hato Hone St John, Sedar Properties, Neighbourhood Support Pakuranga/Bucklands Beach/Flat Bush and Howick Local Board:
Get Shocktober ready with Three Steps for Life, and get connected in your local neighbourhood at Pakuranga Plaza.
Open to anyone, this is a FREE one-hour CPR and AED educational workshop, and is designed to give east Aucklanders the confidence and awareness to act when someone suffers an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, which can happen at anytime.
Also learn about using the GoodSam app and how you can be connected in your local Neighbourhood Support street group, particularly for those who have medical conditions needing a bit more support nearby.
Why 3 Steps For Life matters?
Last year over 2,500 New Zealanders suffered from cardiac arrest (heart stoppage) outside of hospital care, with a majority happening in their own home. Sadly only 11% of those lives were saved.
Applying CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) can increase a patient’s survival chances by up to 40%. However for every minute waiting - a patient’s chance of survival falls by 10-15%. Acting immediately is critical to saving a life.
Note, Three Steps For Life is NOT an approved official First Aid certificate programme.
